 PRETREATMENT

THE IMPORTANCE OF PRE-TREATMENT

Regardless of the coating type, powder or liquid, and the coating resin, fluoropolymer, acrylic
or polyester, the critical first stage of coating aluminum is chemical pre-treatment.

Especially true for aluminum exposed to harsh environments such as prevail at sea coast locations, as without appropriate pre-treatment, premature failure of the coating system is almost always assured.

Amorphous Chromium Phosphate (Chrome) is recognized singularly as the most effective pre-treatment for aluminum, and for some high performance coating systems it's use is mandatory to ensure the full warranty coverage for products used along the ocean front. The application of chrome pre-treatment however is a highly regulated and stringent process from both the view points of industrial hygiene and hazardous waste disposal and as a consequence many coating applicators elect to use non-chrome pre-treatments.

As Sustainable Florida's #1 Small Business (2004-2005) Windsor Metal Finishing is committed to the highest standard of environmental health and safety, while at the same time assuring our customers of the very best pre-treatment available. There is simply no pre-treatment equivalent for chrome and even much thicker powder coating simply take a little longer to fail.
